Samba and storage

Pre-create the shared bin directory in nas-directories.conf (d /var/srv/shares/public/.recycle 2770 root nas-share -)

Helper scripts

nas-recycle-list: per share, with original path, size, deletion time and version
nas-recycle-restore: validates the path (no .., no symlinks), recreates missing parent folders with the right mode, handles name collisions, and restores versions under the original name
nas-recycle-delete: permanently remove one entry
nas-recycle-empty: empty one share’s bin

Cockpit module nas-recycle

Overview of the shares the logged-in user has access to
Per share: all files in the bin with name, original path, size, deleted on, and days until permanent removal
Actions: restore, permanently delete, empty the bin (with confirmation)
Search and filter by name and date
Admin-only section: view and change the retention days via nas-recycle-set-retention, with a warning that lowering it deletes older files at the next purge
Users only see their own files in per-user bins
